I have processed what I can so far but still fear that I might wake from this dream. I am so humbled to be awarded the LVMH Prize 2019, determined by an exceptional and endlessly inspiring jury. Thank you Jonathan Anderson (Loewe), Kris Van Assche (Berluti), Maria Grazia Chiuri (Dior), Nicolas Ghesquière (Louis Vuitton), Clare Waight Keller (Givenchy), Jean-Paul Claverie, Sidney Toledano and Delphine Arnault. Special thank you to this years LVMH Prize ambassador, Alicia Vikander. My mission as a designer is to build a global fashion brand that is based in and sustains itself within the country, acting as a sort of sanctuary women can turn to for not only beautiful and functional clothes, but a place to learn about our culture and heritage, reinterpreted through a modern lens. This Prize is an astronomical kickstart in that direction. I am also honoured to have met the 20 shortlisted designers, all of whom are doing unbelievable work within their respective practices. Congratulations @hedmayner for winning the Karl Lagerfeld Prize. Thank you to the following people, who contributed to the creation of this collection. The kindness and patience you have all shown me is something I will never forget: @donlarissa | @gavinrajah | @vikashipalana | @annettepringlekoelsch | @therealcrystalbirch | @for_lorne | Svenmill CPT | @verisium | @thefashionagent This collection, titled “Prosopography”, is inspired by the Black Sash, who were a revolutionary group of women who fought for the rights and dignity of POC during Apartheid. The collection will debut officially at : NOB SHOWROOM 43 rue de Montmorency 75003 Paris From 27 September to 3 October 2019 info@thebemagugu.com #lvmhprize #lvmh

  1. « Je me rejouis qu’un candidat issu du continent africain remporte le prix LVMH pour la premiere fois. D’autant que Thebe Magugu, a 26 ans, est le plus jeune des candidats de la selection 2019 »
